NOWRA AQUATIC PARK

The centre offers a variety of facilities including a new 50m pool, splashpad and waterslides and a refurbished amenities building

Nowra is a small costal town 160km south of Sydney. Shoalhaven City Council engaged Viali Architects to produce a performance specification and design proposal for a complete redevelopment of the Nowra Aquatic Park to be used by council for a Design and Construct tender.

Subsequent to the D&C tender Viali Architects in association with other engineering professionals was awarded the project by the successful building contractor.

The Nowra Aquatic Park is situated on the banks of the Shoalhaven river which presented various issues for the siting and above all the protection of the new plant room equipment from riverine flooding.

The existing facilities had reached end of life so the local council started a program of improvements which included building a new Olympic pool, new club building, splash pad, water slide and a general refurbishment of the existing amenity building
