Wave Rider Prairiewood Leisure Centre

A purpose built artificial surfing ride similar to a half pipe in shape

Prairiewood is 34 kilometres west of the CBD, in the local government area of the City of Fairfield. Prairiewood Leisure Centre is a modern venue offering a wide range of health and fitness related facilities.

The brief was to create a design that would be highly visible within the centre and promote maximum involvement of patrons.

Once an appropriate location was established for the ride, access to and from the ride remained the two main factors in the design. Access was devised around walkways rather than stairs and ramps to facilitate access for all patrons and to avoid complicated handrail systems required for stairs and ramps
